Inaugural Air Transportation Research & Development (ATRD) Symposium

June 2025 in Prague marked the inaugural Air Transportation Research & Development (ATRD) Symposium, bringing together EUROCONTROL and the FAA's long-standing ATM Seminar with the ICRAT young researchers' conference into a single annual event.

43 technical and 10 doctoral papers wer presented to 110 ATM researchers from around the globe. A total of three doctoral and two technical papers were contribued sucesfully by our departement, based on a triple peer review procedure, out of which the paper  Chances and Pitfalls of the Point Merge Concept - A design Optimization Framework with a Case Study for Leipzig/Halle Airport on Noise, Capacity and Flight Efficiency,  (Fricke, H., Thiel, C., Vogel, M. and Lindner, M., 2025) received the award of "Best Paper in Track" in the track Integrated airport/airside operations! Two doctoral papers were presented from our PhD students of the DFG Research Training Group AirMetro, which is a great achievement for the first study year! The ATRDS was found to be an excellent platform for networking especially between young and eperienced researchers.
