Innovative Aircraft Descent / Approach procedures using robust optimization – DFG Project Awarded
DFG awarded IFL the three-year research project "Aircraft Sequencing and Spacing under Uncertainties during Approach Based on Robust Trajectory Optimization" on optimizing vertical descent profiles of aircraft approaching airports with multiple runways such as Leipzig/Halle in Saxony. Robust optimization techniques will be studied to create flight trajectories that allow operating at minimum fuel and noise costs even under unstable meteorological conditions. Leipzig/Halle airport and DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung are supportive members to the project.
