Consortium meeting with project sponsor participation at Kamenz airfield - Air-Take-Off project

Air-Take-Off project: Consortium meeting at Kamenz airfield
On May 22, 2025, a consortium meeting took place at Kamenz airfield as part of the Air-Take-Off project. The project is funded by the European Union and the Free State of Saxony. Representatives of the Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB) accompanied the meeting on site to get an idea of the current project status.

The main topics of the meeting were the presentation of the project's progress to date and the intensive professional exchange in the context of keynote speeches. Our contribution included risk-optimized path planning for UAVs in urban areas, in which safety requirements (TLS) are efficiently taken into account (Fig. 2).
A special highlight was the subsequent inspection of the newly acquired project hardware. The ground station procured as part of the project was put into operation on site (Fig. 3) and the drone mount was demonstrated on TU Dresden's Cessna 172 (Fig. 4). The Chair of Aircraft Engineering also presented the complex conversion of the Cessna cockpit for the integration of project components.

A functional milestone was the successful demonstration of communication between drones and manned aircraft - visible both in the Cessna's traffic display and in the ground station.
