Städte in Bewegung 2025

To find out how people get around on a daily basis and to estimate urban mobility trends based on this data, we at TUD Dresden University of Technology conducted a travel survey using a smartphone app in the cities of Dresden and Berlin (April 7, 25–July 27, 25). The survey focused on all forms of mobility—including by car, bus, and train; by bike; on foot; and via new modes of transportation such as electric scooters.

Follow-up survey: "New forms of mobility"

With the smartphone app-based travel survey ‘Städte in Bewegung: Mobilität verstehen – Zukunft gestalten‘ (StiB 2025), one of our aims was to research new forms of mobility that could potentially become a reality in the future.

Selected participants in the Städte in Bewegung 2025 travel survey who agreed to be contacted for follow-up surveys were given the opportunity to take part in the follow-up online questionnaire lasting around 20 minutes - and receive a €10 voucher as a reward for their participation.

Dresden on the move - everyday mobility in constant change

Our everyday mobility is subject to constant change. Sooner or later, we tend to adapt our travel behavior so that we can meet our everyday needs in the best possible way.

With Dresden in Bewegung, we would like to measure by means of smartphone-based surveys and understand these changes and give insights for politics and society from them.

Not least with the Corona pandemic, we have become aware of how dynamic changes can be and how they can affect our mobility.
