Transport science expertise from Dresden for sustainable mobility in Sri Lanka
Within the Erasmus+ project "LBS2ITS - Location-based Services to Intelligent Transport Systems", TU Dresden supports four South Asian universities in establishing and further developing higher education in transport science. Together with the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Vienna University of Technology (TUW), which oversees the overall project management, transport scientists from TU Dresden are supporting four universities in Sri Lanka for more than 3 years to develop new study programs and curricula for higher education in the field of transport and mobility.
After the project kick-off in March 2021, the first "Train-the-Teachers-Course" for the training of teachers took place from March 28 to April 1, 2022, at the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka. The week-long course focused on the topic of "Transport System Planning for Smart and Livable Cities." It was led by Prof. Günther Retscher (Department of Geodesy and Geoinformation at the Vienna University of Technology) as well as Prof.in Regine Gerike, Dipl.-Ing.in Elke Clarus and Prof. Udo Becker.
