Presentation at the 13th International Cycling Safety Conference in Oslo
Impressions of the ICSC2025 in Oslo
At the International Cycling Safety Conference (ICSC 2025) in Oslo, Tibor Petzoldt presented results from the research project ERProBt on behalf of Christina Gögel. The project systematically collects and evaluates bicycle safety programs for children aged 10 to 14 in order to provide an overview of existing approaches and identify potential gaps.
In total, 59 programs in Germany were identified and evaluated. The results show that while there is a wide variety of programs, age-specific risk factors, such as smartphone distraction or the increasing risk-taking behavior during adolescence, are rarely addressed.
To support teachers, a website was developed that enables targeted searches for suitable bicycle safety programs: https://verkehrserziehung.ivi.fraunhofer.de/
The final report as well as guidelines for teachers and road safety practitioners are available here.
