Ongoing Survey: Delivery Rider Survey Reaches 750 Responses
Impressions from our field visits to major German cities – flyer campaigns at bicycle repair shops and other rider meeting points
The Delivery Rider Project is a survey study on road safety among bicycle food delivery riders in Germany, funded by the German Road Safety Council (DVR). Riders face particular risks in urban mixed traffic – often working under significant time pressure and with varying levels of preparation for the demands of city cycling. International studies indicate an elevated accident risk for this occupational group, while robust data for Germany remain scarce.
To address this gap, our online survey examines accident involvement, critical incidents, work-related and individual risk factors, as well as prevention potential.
Current status: Over 750 riders have already participated – a significant milestone! To achieve representative results, however, we continue to rely on broader participation. We are currently conducting field visits in major German cities and engaging with key multipliers such as trade unions, bicycle repair shops, and employers to reach more riders.
