At the Institute of Economics and Transport, the Chair Econometrics and Statistics, esp in Transport Sector offers a position as

Research Associate (m/f/x)
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

starting as soon as possible and limited until August 31, 2025. The duration of employment according to Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (WissZeitVG), with 75% of the regular weekly working hours. There is the opportunity for your own further academic qualification (usually doctorate).

Tasks: Scientific research activities in the field of statistics and econometrics with application in economics or traffic sciences; the research direction will be flexibly designed within the competences of the professorship (financial econometrics (high-frequency econometrics), dependency modeling (copula-based modelling), data science (reinforcement learning), etc.). New directions are also possible. Publication activities (e.g. writing specialist articles, book contributions, etc.); holding specialist lectures at conferences; participation in third-party funded projects; supporting the chair of the professorship in conducting courses; supervision of seminar and final theses; creation of exam tasks; control of exams; conducting exam inspections; carrying out consultations and taking on the function of contact person for inquiries about teaching content and examinations; assistance with administrative tasks. Own research activities with the goal of a doctorate as well as publications in international journals are expressly desired.

Requirements: Academic degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, economics, business mathematics or econometrics; in-depth knowledge of modern object-oriented programming; ability to independently conduct goal- and project-oriented scientific work. Existing knowledge of traffic flow modeling, many-particle modeling and, if necessary, deep learning techniques, is advantageous.
