Textbook with more than 2. million chapter downloads in 2020
The Corona pandemic clearly shows the importance but also the vulnerability of value, logistics, and transport chains. Aspects such as reliability and convertibility replaced costs as the dominant evaluation criterion. In this context, a significant increase in demand for teaching content and materials on these topics was observed worldwide in 2020.
The 2nd edition of the textbook "Global Supply Chain and Operations Management - A Decision-Oriented Introduction to the Creation of Value" by the authors Prof. Dr. Dmitry Ivanov (HWR Berlin), Prof. Dr. Alexander Tsipoulanidis (HWR Berlin), and Prof. Dr. Jörn Schönberger (TU Dresden, Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences) was published in 2019. During the year 2020, more than 2 million chapter downloads worldwide have been registered, according to an evaluation by the publisher. The page with supplementary materials for teachers and students was also accessed extensively.
The 3rd edition of the textbook, which has been expanded by almost 100 pages, is expected to be published before the end of the year 2021. Besides the extension by an additional chapter on capacity management, the other 17 chapters have been fundamentally revised, updated, and supplemented. Current findings and future focal points for logistics theory and practice are addressed in this 670-page textbook.
