Thesis

To write a bachelor thesis at our chair, it is required to have passed the specialisation module “Management of Transport and Logistics Companies” including the following courses:

• Fundamentals: Management of Transport and Logistics Companies [Grundlagen Management von Verkehrs- und Logistikunternehmen, MVLU I]
• Specialisation: Management of Transport and Logistics Companies [Vertiefung Management von Verkehrs- und Logistikunternehmen, MVLU II]
• Seminar paper “Specific Aspects of Management of Transport and Logistics Companies” [Seminararbeit “Spezifische Aspekte des Managements von Verkehrs- und Logistikunternehmen“]

As basis for a master thesis at our chair, the following courses have to be passed:

• Operations Research and Logistics [Operations Research und Logistik]
• Decision Support in Logistics [Entscheidungsunterstützung in der Logistik]
• Service Provision for Public Transport [Leistungserstellung im Öffentlichen Personenverkehr]
• Research Seminar [Forschungsseminar]

If you are interested in writing a final thesis at the Chair of Transport Services and Logistics, please register via the email function for registration in OPAL. Please include your name and your degree program and if applicable a preferred supervisor and a proposed topic.

After an initial meeting and potential first research about the offered topic for your thesis, you can officially register the topic.

For the registration of the final thesis, the following procedure is applied:

• At first, the examination office has to check whether the admission requirements for writing the final thesis are met. If this is the case, you will receive a registration form for the bachelor or master thesis from the examination office.
• Then, you bring this form to the next meeting with your supervisor. In this meeting, the final specification of the topic takes place. Moreover, your supervisor confirms his/her supervision on the registration form.
• Next, the topic has to be registered bindingly in the examination office within one week from the approval by the supervisor.
• The issuing as well as the submission dates are finally clarified by the examination office in consultation with you.
• The registration form remains in the examination office, you will receive the topic together with the assignment again.
• In the case of illness, a medical certificate has to be submitted to your examination office, following your examination regulations so that the processing time can be extended, if applicable.

Note for master theses: For scheduling, please be aware that after the complete evaluation of the work, a defense of the thesis is required which is also included in the assessment. This can need additional two to four weeks.
