Review of the Complete Vehicle Practical Course 2026: Experiencing Automotive Engineering Instead of Just Talking About It
On June 12, 2026, the Chair of Automobile Engineering’s complete vehicle practical course took place once again at the DEKRA test facility at the Lausitzring. More than 100 students from TU Dresden, HTW Dresden, TU Darmstadt, and TH Ingolstadt took advantage of the opportunity to apply what they had learned in the lecture hall directly in a practical setting and to experience modern automotive engineering up close.
Seven stations focused on a wide variety of aspects of vehicle development. From driving dynamics and ride comfort to steering and braking behavior, as well as vehicle safety and commercial vehicles, participants were able to experience theoretical concepts firsthand and gain a deeper understanding of how the individual vehicle systems interact. The off-road station, introduced last year, was once again part of the program and offered exciting insights into driving behavior on unpaved surfaces.
The stations were supervised by staff from the participating universities as well as by experts from the industry. The internship was once again supported by Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, DEKRA, and FSD. Direct interaction with experienced engineers provided the students with valuable insights into current developments and practical work in the automotive sector.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone involved for the excellent organization and dedicated on-site support.
Year after year, the omplete vehicle practical course demonstrates just how exciting automobile engineering can be when theory and practice come together. For many students, it is one of the special highlights of their studies and inspires them to actively help shape the mobility of tomorrow.
