Safety in highly automated driving: Dresden Automotive Symposium 2024
How do people interact with driver assistance systems? What criteria are needed for the design, approval and standardization of automated driving? And what are the trends in terms of technology, functionality, driving simulation and cyber-physical test methods? These and other questions about the future of highly automated driving will be discussed at the Dresden Automotive Symposium (DDAS) on September 26, 2024 in Freital near Dresden.
The organizers, the Association of German Engineers (VDI) and the Chair of Automobile Engineering, are inviting interested specialists and managers to take part in the expert forum:
"The latest driver assistance systems (DAS) and highly automated driving (HAF) promise great gains in comfort, safety and environmental compatibility in automotive driving. The technology enables participation in mobility and helps to shape individual mobility in liveable cities. Assisted and automated vehicles must move safely and smoothly in traffic ."
In addition to specialist presentations by experts from science, industry and authorities, the highlight of the conference will be the first public presentation of the immersive driving simulator from TU Dresden . The Dresden Driving Simulator (DDS) has been developed since 2019 at the Chair of Automobile Engineering together with AMST-Systemtechnik GmbH and with financial support from the BMDV and is the world's largest driving simulator that simulates vehicle behavior almost realistically. The Friedrich List Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences will also provide insights into TU Dresden's Smart Mobility Lab (SML), which is set to open in 2027 as a globally unique interdisciplinary research campus for automated and cooperative mobility.
