Project duration
01.11.2009 - 30.11.2011
Brief description
Electrification of the drive train of motor vehicles is a suitable measure for increasing efficiency and reducing emissions from motor vehicles. The biggest challenge in the introduction of all-electric drive systems is the insufficient capacity of energy storage systems. One concept to compensate for this disadvantage is the use of a system that provides the required electrical energy in the vehicle - the range extender. As part of the project, the basic principles are to be developed to enable the efficient and low-emission use of a diesel engine for this purpose. On the one hand, the technologies and concepts developed serve to build up general knowledge and, on the other hand, they strengthen the competence to be able to enter into cooperation activities.
