Scientific investigation of emissions from kerosene piston aircraft engines and their reduction
Project duration
01.01.2018 - 31.12.2021
Brief description
The overall objective of the project is to develop reciprocating piston aircraft engines for environmentally friendly aviation. In order to achieve this ambitious goal, emission-reducing measures are to be developed for the first time in the civil aviation industry, especially for highly efficient kerosene-powered reciprocating piston aircraft engines, for the generation of pollutants within the engine and for exhaust gas aftertreatment of the harmful gases NOx, HC, CO and particulates. Current development efforts for reciprocating aircraft engines are mainly limited to technical innovations for noise and CO2 reduction. Technify Motors is already a pioneer in both areas. However, the pollutant gases produced as by-products of combustion, such as CO, HC and NOx, have so far been almost completely neglected in development. The fact that these gases are toxic to humans and the environment, even in small quantities, is already sufficiently and indisputably known from countless publications. These measures can make a significant contribution to more environmentally friendly aviation.
