Brief description
Technify Motors GmbH, the world's leading manufacturer of kerosene-fueled piston aircraft engines, wants to maintain or further expand its competitive advantage in the future. The development goal has always been to offer fuel-efficient and reliable engines for general aviation. In order to achieve the next big step in fuel consumption optimization, the peak pressure compatibility of the basic unit must be increased in order to make the thermodynamic energy conversion even more efficient. Simulation calculations have shown that with a peak combustion pressure of 200 bar and the same power output, an improvement in consumption of up to 30% is possible. However, the current crankcase is not designed for these loads and reinforcing individual areas will not lead to the desired goal. Therefore, as part of this project, a completely new cylinder block housing is to be developed together with the Chair of Internal Combustion Engines and Drive Systems that meets these demanding objectives. The Chair of Internal Combustion Engines and Drive Systems will provide significant support for the development process with its experience in simulation, design and FEM calculation.
