Brief description
The protection of the environment, health and natural resources is a key objective in current and future projects. Continuous research and development in all areas of science can bring us closer to solving this global problem. The transport sector is a major contributor to environmental and health pollution and requires natural resources to fulfill its role. Despite efforts on the part of politicians, the proportion of passenger cars in the total volume of traffic remains almost unabatedly high. The internal combustion engine used to power most cars can be cited as one cause of emissions pollution, particularly in cities. The measurement of real emissions in road traffic serves as a tool for reducing pollutant emissions from combustion engines. Knowledge of real vehicle emissions is suitable for research and development of new systems and components in close cooperation with industrial partners. Last but not least, the increase in competence achieved by the Chair of Internal Combustion Engines significantly improves the quality of teaching in terms of topicality and thus contributes to the excellent training of the "engineers of tomorrow".
