KÜT
The increasing integration and modernization of the available infrastructure for traffic systems requires the use of new and innovative information technologies and communication solutions. Such new and innovative telematics solutions are in great demand for track systems for railway (e.g. ICE) and urban traffic (e.g. e-Ticketing), motorized private transport (e.g. radio traffic service) as well as air traffic (e.g. collision warning system) and shipping (e.g. harbour navigation) to get present and future traffic problems solved. The planned research and development laboratory “KÜT” should be used to get the necessary scientific findings and it boosts the core competence in the field of communication technology for traffic systems. This includes:
- Scientific attendance and acquisition of research projects with the following topics:
-
- testing and evaluating of commercial IT- and CT- components from different transmission standards to verify theirs applicability for traffic data transmission
- reliability and data safety of mobile systems (EMC, coding, access protection, authenticity, integrity, attacker model, et al.)
- (Further) Development, integration and test of telematics components for railway traffic (e.g. radio train control systems in conjunction with the new mobile radio system UMTS, positioning system Galileo and data radio system WiMAX-mobile)
-
- Research output in the field of mobile, portable and stationary supply planning and measurement of data transmission for different modes of transport (road-, railway-, air- traffic, shipping)
- Development of software and hardware defined test systems for innovative traffic telematics communication and positioning applications (e.g. Galileo, car-to-car communication, radar/video based driver assistance systems)
