ITVS at Silicon Saxony Day 2022
At the Silicon Saxony Day 2022 the chair ITVS presented a demonstration of a radio sensing system within the connected aircraft cabin. The goal is the development of integrated communication systems which support localization as well as sensing funtionalities. By evaluating the raw communication data, conclusions can be drawn about the propagation channel and the environment. Using the example of the networked aircraft cabin, the passive detection of the occupancy status of a seat was demonstrated in order to better monitor and optimize the boarding process. For this purpose, a classification of the channel impulse response was performed using a kNN based on pre-recorded training data. Details of the approach and initial evaluation measurements were previously published in an open access publication. Such integrated communication systems in the networked aircraft cabin was developed in the CAbiNET research project and adapted for different purposes. A closer look is provided by the demo video, which was created during the integration tests in the cabin simulator and shows the different functionalities of the localization and sensing system.
