Sucessful application for TU Dresden's Digital Learning and Teaching Fund
A concept for the digitalization of teaching developed at the chair is funded by TU Dresden's Digital Learning and Teaching Fund with 17.712,85€ over the period of one year. The aim of the project " Bring your own Device - Establishment of a digital internship for individual, student-centered data acquisition and evaluation " is to record data on the basis of the sensor hardware available in commercially available smartphones and to use it as a basis for measurement data processing.
Specifically, GNSS sensor data (GNSS: Global Navigation Satellite Systems, often abbreviated to GPS in smartphones) will be recorded. For this purpose, a logging application and a corresponding data parser will be developed, with which the data can subsequently be used as a basis for localization algorithms. So far, this data has been recorded in a field practice with specialized measurement hardware. The implementation of the "bring your own device" approach allows for decentralized and asynchronous teaching concepts without the presence requirement as it was necessary during the COVID pandemic. The approach also increases flexibility and facilitates comprehensibility of the complete engineering work chain "data collection - data preparation - data analysis - result evaluation".
