When will autonomous driving arrive? New episode of the "Good Question
Hands off the wheel and time for other things: How realistic is the idea of autonomous driving? In the new "Good Question", experts from the TU Dresden talk about this topic and give an outlook. Among other things, they discuss what infrastructure needs to be created, what technology automated vehicles require and what the legal situation is in this area.
Dr. Thomas Tüschen from the Chair of Automotbile Engineering at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at TU Dresden provides information about the various stages of automation.
Among the interviewees are Luise Fitzthum (Chair of Traffic Process Automation) and Dr. Steffen Kutter (Chair of Vehicle Mechatronics), two scientists from the ABSOLUT research project, who are developing a bus that will cover its route largely on its own.
The VUFO GmbH (traffic accident research at TU Dresden) focuses on the extent to which automated vehicles can make traffic safer, and Helena K. Jahromi explains how autonomous vehicles must behave in unavoidable collisions.
The video format "Gute Frage" answers questions from different scientific perspectives with the help of TU Dresden experts. More videos are available on the YouTube channels "Discover TU Dresden" and "Try TU Dresden".
