FAST TRAFFIC
Project description
The main objective of the research project fast traffic is the development and demonstration of a technology for a real-time networking of interconnected vehicles and the infrastructure. This real-time approach is one important requirement for the assistance systems of the future and will massively increase the safety conditions of road traffic. To reach the required low end-to-end latency all involved components have to be optimized with regard to time delay. Therefore new sensors will be developed and communication standards as well as data fusion algorithms will be optimized.
Tasks of ITVS
The assignment of the Chair of Transport Systems Information Technology is the development of a high precise and reliable localization, which highly benefits from the increased latency of the data exchange of interconnected vehicles. The position error can be highly increased by exchanging the GPS raw data between the vehicles, if this interchange is performed with a defined low latency. With the help of other augmentation systems like optical environment recognition or the evaluation of the chassis data the error can be still reduced. Simultaneously the integrity of the position solution is determined. The results are integrated in a demonstrator and can be illustrated within one usecase.
