IVS-LOK – Accurate localization for intelligent traffic systems
in the scope of the High-Tech-initiative Synchrone Mobilität 2023 – Intelligente Verkehrssysteme in Sachsen
Project Description
Through the targeted use of commercially available GNSS receivers and a suitable infrastructure, a track-selective positioning accuracy in the submeter range can be achieved even under urban conditions. The basis for this is a suitable infrastructure consisting of higher-level reference receivers and light signalling systems that function as virtual reference stations. For that different communication technologies like mobile radio, DAB+ and 802.11p are used. A map-matching process with high-resolution track-fine 3D map material guarantees compliance with the routes and serves to increase positioning accuracy and integrity. The positioning process will be further supported by multi-sensor data fusion processes. On the one hand, test and validation processes of the positioning quality on the basis of components are carried out in laboratory operation. On the other hand, the validation of the locating quality on a vehicle carrier basis is to take place practically on the HTW and IVI test fields as well as within the IVS corridors.

The TU Dresden, with its Chair Transport Systems Information is responsible for the project coordination and is involved in the following sub-projects scientifically and technically:
- Conception and development of a reference system for the exact positioning of an application scenario developed together with the project partners.
- Algorithm development for the provision of virtual observables as well as the forwarding of raw data and correction information in compliance with the interfaces defined with the partners.
- Support in the integration and implementation of the positioning and communication system in an executable test vehicle on test fields of the Fraunhofer IVI and the HTW Dresden as well as on the announced IVS-Sachsen corridors.
