Service platform for urban network coverage in V2X-Communication, access possibilities for edge clouds and risk evaluation for autonomous driving vehicles – Cartox²
Source: BMVI
Challenge
As manufacturers develop the technology and test their first prototypes, the overall conditions for connected driving are looked at far too little. The successful realization of connected and autonomous driving requires low-latency communication systems with sufficient availability and integrity levels. A loss of signal in this challenging environment can lead to safety-critical situations.
Project target
Cartox² develops a core service plattform for connected and automated driving. This plattform captures and processes information about V2V connectivity. Furthermore it integrates the V2X network coverage and the quality of the data routing between edge clouds and their access points.
Implementation
Cartox² merges various sources of communication-, location- and geodata as well as data from the open data platform mCloud (e.g. Breitbandatlas, DB Netzradar, weather data) on a single big data platform, whereby the data is enhanced throughout its aggregation.
Developments will include:
- Provision of information regarding V2V data on various protocol levels
- Information about access possibilities for edge clouds an their network coverage for digital mobility services
- Evaluation of potential risks for autonomous driving vehicles by finding connectivity bottlenecks between vehicles and infrastructure alike
