Our recap for this year's Dresden Science Night!
High Turnout for the Duckiebot Race, VAMOS, Train Driving Simulator, and Bicycle Test Track
As usual, the offerings from our department for the Long Night of Sciences 2024 attracted a large number of interested visitors. Engaging discussions were held about modern technologies in autonomous vehicles and how these might impact our daily lives in the future. In our MiniCCAM Lab everyone in the room cheered on the active participants during thrilling neck-and-neck races. In the VAMOS lecture, everyday issues of Dresden's traffic were explored. At the long-established train driving simulator, both young and old practiced energy-efficient driving of a suburban train in Dresden, trying to stop at the platform so that the simulated passengers could board and disembark. Those who succeeded were proud of the certificate with their achieved driving trajectory. Cyclists enjoyed the bicycle test track, where, thanks to an app, they could always ride on a green wave through the set-up traffic lights. Whether this positive experience can be transferred to everyday life was discussed with research associates from our chair.
We look forward to offering exciting insights into our research topics again at the Long Night of Sciences in 2025!
