"Intelligent Mobility Region Saxony" (IMoSa) project launched
The "Intelligent Mobility Region Saxony" project was successfully launched on November 1, 2023. The mFUND-funded preliminary study is being carried out in cooperation with LISt GmbH, PSI FLS Fuzzy Logik & Neuro Systeme GmbH, Urban Software Institute GmbH and the TUD Chair ITVS. The project focuses on the stretch of the B93 between the industrial park near Meerane (15 km north of Zwickau) and the VW Mosel plant (Zwickau district) as well as the associated "Mosel" tunnel. In case of a temporary closure of the tunnel the already heavy truck traffic on the route will be shifted to the subordinate road network, resulting in an even greater burden for residents in the Mosel district. The preliminary study examines how an improvement in traffic and logistics processes can be achieved through data exchange between urban and regional traffic management and the use of intelligent traffic systems. The foundations for possible solutions (e.g. intelligent truck routing, truck traffic light assistants, new methods for tunnel monitoring) will be developed.
As part of the mFUND funding program, the BMDV has been supporting research and development projects relating to data-based digital innovations for Mobility 4.0 since 2016. The project funding is supplemented by active professional networking between stakeholders from politics, business, administration and research and the provision of open data on the Mobilithek.
