Brief description: Federal trunk roads are currently and will in the future be temporarily or permanently equipped with Road Side Units (RSU) for so-called Car-to-X (C2X) communication between vehicles and the infrastructure. Furthermore, the first automotive manufacturers have announced the introduction of C2X technology as standard equipment in their volume models for 2019.
The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) has already stipulated that all mobile barrier panels (FAT) used to secure daily construction sites on federal trunk roads must be equipped with RSUs (C-ITS Corridor) in order to provide a construction site warning using C2X technology via ETSI G5 (European profile of 802.11p). Parallel to the service "road works warning", the forwarding of the Cooperative Awareness Message (CAM) of the vehicles received by means of RSU is planned in traffic centers.
This is where the DAVE project comes in. With the help of simulations, data material is to be generated and subsequently interpreted in order to enable the determination of the traffic situation (availability of the traffic infrastructure, quality level of the traffic flow, environmental conditions). Core questions concern the data flow in its quantity and the necessary components for data acquisition, preprocessing and refinement.
