VAMOS Lab
The VAMOS traffic management architecture was developed as part of several research projects funded by the federal government and the Free State of Saxony, and the traffic management system for the state capital of Dresden was built up step by step. First, successful pilots were transferred to permanent operation. Subsequently, the database was comprehensively expanded. This was followed by the successive expansion of the information channels used.
The core of the system is the traffic data center. Data series are available for over 1000 detectors, including traffic volumes over long periods of time. In this way, the TU Dresden can use the VAMOSlab data pool to analyse both causes and effects in the context of motorized traffic in Dresden.
At the same time, the Saxon State Office for Road Construction and Traffic (LASuV) is establishing telematics solutions throughout Saxony. The resulting data is also available in the VAMOSlab and can be used for research activities at the chair.
The physical VAMOS components and user interfaces form a test field for the design of control centers. Operating concepts can be presented as part of teaching and best practice can be discussed with specialist users.
