2019
Mr. Marc Janka was awarded the “Best Paper Award Controlling” of the Péter Hovárth Foundation at the on October 11th, 2019. The prize money of EUR 10,000 is one of the highest in the German-speaking area. He receives the prize for the research study “Management Control of New Product Development and Perceived Environmental Uncertainty: Exploring Heterogeneity using a Finite Mixture Approach” co-authored with Professor Thomas Guenther and published in the “Journal of Management Accounting Research (Vol. 30 No. 2) in 2018.
Our staff member Dr. Stephan Fuhrmann received the Dr. Feldbausch-Förderpreis by the dean Prof. Dr. Michael Schefczyk on May 22, 2019 for his outstanding dissertation. The laudation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Thomas Günther.
The Article “Kostensimulation oder dynamische Kostenrechnung? – Ansätze zur Bewältigung von Komplexität und Volatilität in der Kostenrechnung verarbeitender Unternehmen in Zeiten von Industrie 4.0“ by Andre Rinke, Martin Maiwald, Michael Voelker, and Thomas Guenther was awarded by the journal Controlling with the Best Paper Award in the category Scientific Research 2018. The chair of Business Management is incredibly pleased about this prize and congratulates all authors on this honor.
Prof. Thomas Guenther won the Best Faculty Award of 2018 of the Österreichisches Controller-Institut in the category "Inhouse Trainings". We congratulate him on this success!
2018
The co-authors Michael Graßmann, Stephan Fuhrmann and Thomas Günther were rewarded with the Best Paper Award of the 14th Interdisciplinary Conference on “Intangibles and Intellectual Capital – Value Creation, Integrated Reporting and Governance" for their paper "Drivers of the disclosed ‘connectivity of the capitals’: Evidence from integrated reports" on September 21, 2018 in Munich.
The journal “CONTROLLING - Zeitschrift für erfolgsorientierte Unternehmenssteurung” awarded Michael Graßmann, Stephan Fuhrmann und Thomas Günther with the Best Paper Award in the category “Science 2017” for their article "Potenziale einer externen Kostenremanenzanalyse für das Controlling – Am Beispiel der Luftfahrtindustrie" on July 25, 2018. The chair congratulates the authors very warmly for this achievement.
Our staff member Deborah Nagel has been honoured with the Georg-Helm-Prize for her master thesis "Linguistische Analyse von Risikoberichten". This prize is granted once a year for students' and young scientists' excellent theses of TU Dresden. We congratulate Ms. Nagel on this outstanding achievement. 2016
After Mr Dr. Jan Endrikat has been awared with the Dr. Feldbausch Award, he was again honored for his dissertation with the SICK-Award of Environmentalism 2015, sponsored by the SICK AG . The award ceremony on October 10, 2016, was held at the rector's building. Award speeches were given by the rector of the TU Dresden Mr Prof. Dr. Mueller-Steinhagen, by the dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering Mr Prof. Dr Ronald Tetzlaff and the daughter of the founder of the SICK AG Mrs Dorothea Sick-Thies.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Günther, together with the lecturers of the interdisciplinary teaching project on risk communication, received the teaching award of € 5,000 from the friends and supporters of the TU Dresden. The topic of risk communication is considered by the interdisciplinary team of professors from the fields of linguistics and literary sciences, environmental research, chemistry and economics from different perspectives. The lecturers teach and supervise in small teams seminar groups, which in turn are interdisciplinary, together. The chair of controlling is pleased about the high award and appreciation of the project.
On June 1, 2006 our employee Mr. Dr. Jan Endrikat received the Dr. Feldbausch Award through the Dean Prof. Dr. Michael Schefczyk for his outstanding dissertation on "Coping with Ecological Issues and Gaining Competitive Advantage? Corporate Approaches to the Natural Environment and Financial Performance: In Search of Empirical Evidence". The laudation was delivered by Prof. Dr. Edeltraud Guenther.
Our employee Mr. Michael Grassmann , M. Sc., was honoured with the Award of the Faculty of Economics for the best graduates of the degree programme of Economics on April 23, 2016, by the Dean Prof. Dr. Michael Schefczyk for his outstanding achievements in the studies of the Faculty of Economics of the TU Dresden.
2015
Also in 2015, a student of the Master Programme of Business Administration who has been suggested for the WiWi-Talents gifted programme by our chair prevailed over other candidates.
The magazine Controlling honours the Working Group "Value-based management in medium-sized companies" for the publication on "Innovation management in medium-sized enterprises" in Edition 7/2014 with the Best Paper Award.
The Austrian Controller Institute in Vienna awarded Prof. Dr. Thomas Günther with the Best Faculty Award 2014 in the category "four to six training days" for his management training on topics such as value-orientated controlling and risk management and risk controlling in the context of the modular Advanced Controller programme. Prof. Günther has been teaching at the Austrian Controller Institute since 2003. Moreover, he is also a member of the Faculty of the Mannheim Business School for Executive MBA programmes in the area of controlling.
2014
Our dean Prof. Dr. Udo Buscher awarded our staff member Dr. P. Maik Hamann with the Dr.-Feldbausch Research-Advancement-Prize for his outstanding dissertation with the topic "Towards a Contingency Theory of Corporate Planning – The Design of Corporate Planning Systems, Contingency Factors, and Performance Effects“ on April 25, 2014.
Because of the exemplary support of the WiWi Talents Program the Chair of Business Management, esp. Managerial Accounting and Control had been named Talentschmiede of winter term 2013/2014. The chair could support the application of three students for the WiWi Talents scholarship. We congratulate Mr. Stoppok, who won the scholarship.
2013
On April 13, our staff member Stephan Fuhrmann, M. Sc., had been awarded for his outstanding performance during his studies. The prize for the best graduant of our faculty in business administration had been handed over by our dean Prof. Dr. Susanne Strahringer.
2010
Our staff members Dipl.-Kfm. Christian Ott and Dipl.-Kffr. Ulrike Henke receive the Second Place Best Junior Paper Contribution on the 6th European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) Interdisciplinary Workshop on Intangibles, Intellectual Capital and Extra-Financial Information in Catania, Italy.
2008
On December 12, our staff member Dipl.-Kfm. Christian Ott was awarded by our rector, Prof. Kokenge, for his outstanding achievements during his studies at the business faculty of the Dresden University of Technology. He received the Lohrmann Medal for finishing his studies as the best-in-class.
During the graduation ball of our faculty on November 29, our staff member Dipl.-Kfm. Christian Ott was awarded a prize as the best graduant of our faculty in business administration. Furthermore, our staff member Dipl.-Hdl. Maik Hamann was awarded the prize for being the best graduant in business and economics education.
For the third time after 2005 and 2006, the Chair of Business Management, especially Managerial Accounting and Control of Professor Guenther was awarded the prize for young researchers by the International Controller Association ("Nachwuchspreis des Internationalen Controllervereins"). The International Controller Association is the professional representation for controllers in Europe and consists of about 6,000 members. The first prize was given to Ms. Katarzyna Smirska for her outstanding diploma thesis on the optimization of an implemented risk management systems in a medium-sized company.
The prize comes with a 2,500 € purse, from which two thirds are assigned to the author and one third to the supervisor, Professor Guenther. The award ceremony took place in Berlin on September 6.
2007
Our staff member Ms. Lucia Bellora was awarded with the "European Investment Bank Prize for the Best Contribution on Performance Measurement and Valuation of Intellectual Capital" during the 3rd Workshop on Visualizing, Measuring, and Managing Intangibles and Intellectual Capital that took place from October 29 to 31. She received the prize as a best paper award for her working paper "Measuring Innovation Capital - A content Analysis of Published Intellectual Capital Statements". A total number of 77 papers had been submitted.
2006
For the second time, the Chair of Business Management, especially Managerial Accounting and Control of Professor Guenther at the Dresden University of Technology was awarded the first prize for young researchers by the International Controller Association ("Nachwuchspreis des Internationalen Controllervereins"). The International Controller Association is the professional representation for controllers in Europe and consists of about 6,000 members.
The first prize was given to René Thiermann for his excellent diploma thesis which includes an analysis of over 130,000 customers of financial sercive providers. The author examined what kind of customer-specific data provides customer value to a bank.
Two thirds of the prize money is assigned to the author and one third to the supervisor, Professor Guenther.
2005
Our staff member Martin Hartebrodt received the Beisheim Research- Advancement-Award within the Beisheim Colloquium on November 18 for his outstanding diploma thesis.
On Saturday, September 3, the International Controller Association for the first time awarded a prize for young researchers. The prize comes with a 4,000 € purse and values highly innovative diploma thesis and dissertations on controlling issues.
For his diploma thesis on risk management, Julius Kirscheneder also received a prize as well as his supervisor Prof. Guenther from the Chair of Business Management, especially Managerial Accounting and Control.
2003
On November 8, Dr. Peter Nicolai Damisch received the Austrian Controller Award 2003 for his dissertation on value-oriented flexibility management by means of the real options approach.
The development team of the project "Learning Software Interactive" received the Teaching Prize 2001 that is assigned by the association of the friends and sponsors of the Dresden University of Technology. The prize is given for outstanding achievements in the area of teaching and further education.
For her diploma thesis, Pipa Neumann received the Dr.-Feldbausch Research-Advancement-Prize on October 10 within the jubilee celebration of the 10 year existence of our business department. The thesis deals with the operationalization of the factor human capital within the concepts of evaluating knowledge.
2002
Dr. Michael Gruening received the BFI-Bank-Prize on November 6 for his dissertation on performance measurement systems, focusing on the evaluation and controlling of corporate performance.
On September 24, Dr. Frank Plaschke received the Schmalenbach Prize for his dissertation on the organization of value-oriented management incentive systems on the basis of key performance indicators.
2001
On October 24, Dr. Thomas Muche received the BFI-Bank-Prize for his dissertation on the theoretical fundamentals of the present value criterion related to its application for business evaluation.
2000
In 2000, the Chair of Business Administration, especially Managerial Accounting and Control received the research advancement award of the Arthur-Andersen-Foundation. The prize comes with an 8,000 DM purse for a research project on performance measurement systems.
On November 22, Dr. Catharina Kriegbaum was awarded the Dr.-Feldbausch Research-Advancement-Award for her dissertation on brand controlling.
Ralf Schoenherr received the Lohrmann Medal as an award for his diploma thesis on the effects of the component orientation on business-management standard software.
1999
On November 10, Silke Lehmann received the Georg-Helm-Prize for her diploma thesis on complexity and time.
1998
In November, the Chair for Business Management, especially Managerial Accounting and Control received an research advancement award from the Arthur-Andersen-Foundation. The prize comes with a 12,500 DM purse which is a support for the research project on brand controlling, conducted by our chair. It is also a part payment for the participation of our chair in the congress of the European Accounting Association (EAA) in Bordeaux.
Kristina Klyschz received the Otto-Beisheim Research-Advancement-Award for her diploma thesis on insolvency forecasting research by means of KPI analysis and the involved causes for insolvency.
In 1998, Mirko Schaefer was awarded the Commerzbank-Prize and the Dr.-Walter-Seipp-Prize of the Commerzbank-Foundation at the Dresden University of Technology. In his diploma thesis, he analyzed the process-oriented cost accounting in financial institutions based on the domestic monetary transactions of the Commerzbank AG.
1996
Simone Otterbein and Prof. Thomas Guenther were honored as the authors of the year 1996 by the editors of the Magazine on Business Administration (Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft - ZfB) for their paper on the organization of investor relations in leading corporations.
