The Future of Offshore Energy – Winter Seminar in Kleinwalsertal
The chair Chair of Business Administration, esp. Energy Economics, the chair Chair of Business Administration, esp. Logistics, the and the Chair of Energy Economics at Ruhr University Bochum came together this winter for an inter-university seminar in the Kleinwalsertal. Set against the inspiring backdrop of snow-covered mountains, the seminar focused on students exploring the role of offshore energy in achieving a climate-neutral Germany and Europe by 2045.
The program covered key technological, economic, and policy issues in offshore energy. Topics included the current status and future developments of offshore wind, innovative solutions such as floating and hybrid installations, grid integration and energy storage, as well as economic and regulatory frameworks. A particular highlight was a practical presentation by Ms. Piegsa from OMEXOM, who gave participants a virtual tour of a digital twin of an offshore wind farm using a VR headset. We sincerely thank Ms. Piegsa for providing such insightful, hands-on perspectives on innovative digital applications in the offshore energy sector.
Beyond the academic sessions, the seminar offered plenty of opportunities for personal exchange. Shared leisure activities and evening discussions encouraged interdisciplinary dialogue and strengthened connections among participants.
We thank everyone involved for making this Winter Seminar a success and look forward to continuing this valuable collaboration.
