Lars Hornuf and Daniel Vrankar win the ECSECO Best Paper Award
Lars Hornuf and Daniel Vrankar have received the Best Paper Award of the European Centre for Space Economy and Commerce (ECSECO) in the category "Space Business and Commerce." The award-winning paper examines the role of spillover effects of new space companies and compare them to traditional aerospace companies.
The study evidences that new space stakeholders make a greater contribution to knowledge spillovers than traditional aerospace companies and thus contribute significantly to innovation dynamics in the space sector. These findings are not only relevant for the academic discourse, but also have direct implications for industry policy.
The award highlights the growing importance of research at the interface between the space industry and economic policy. Daniel Vrankar will present the paper at the ESA stand at the largest space trade fair and conference in Europe (Space Tech Expo). The award winning paper is available as a working paper on SSRN.
