Regulatory Competition in the Digital Economy
March 22, 2024
When the American company OpenAI launched the LLM ChatGPT, it was a revolution for many GenAI users. Google now offers Gemini, and Meta provides LLaMA. At least 50 other US companies are working on LLMs. Meanwhile, China also has numerous LLM providers. In comparison, Germany's AlephAlpha is still a welcome exception and a relatively small company. However, we have established a legal foundation in Europe with the AI Regulation. But what does attractive AI regulation look like? What kind of regulation do companies that pursue data-based business models or operate platforms prefer? Are lawmakers around the world cleverly trying to attract these companies with appropriate regulation? These and other questions will be discussed at the conference "Regulatory Competition in the Digital Economy" with experts from the fields of law, computer science, and economics in Dresden at Lingner Schloss.
