CHE-Hochschulranking 2020: Very satisfied industrial engineering students at the TU Dresden
In the current university ranking of the CHE, which is published today in the 'ZEIT Studienführer 2020/21' as well as online on 'ZEIT CAMPUS', the diploma of Industrial Engineering of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the TU Dresden comes off with top scores. According to the survey, the students of Industrial Engineering are very satisfied with the general study conditions, the range of courses offered and the supervision by the teaching staff. Furthermore, the students appreciate the academic relevance and the existing offers for career orientation. The diploma of Wirtschaftsinformatik offered by the Faculty of Business and Economics was also able to position itself in the top group in the categories 'support at the beginning of studies' and 'international orientation'.
"The demand from students for a diploma degree is still very high. In addition, the diploma continues to enjoy an excellent reputation in business practice," explains Prof. Dr. Michael Schefczyk, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics. The degree course in Industrial Engineering offers students extensive and varied opportunities to choose economic and technical study majors, which are offered in close cooperation with the Faculties of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Science and Engineering, Transport and Traffic Science, Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. A further unique selling point is that students can choose the major 'International', which makes it easier to get credits for their studies abroad.
The excellent performance of the two interdisciplinary diploma courses corresponds to the University Ranking 2020 published in business magazine 'WirtschaftsWoche' at the end of April, which places the 'Wirtschaftsinformatik' course in 4th rank in the 'Universities' category, an improvement of two ranks compared to the previous year. The Industrial Engineering course is ranked 5th among German universities (2019: 4th rank).
For the university ranking 2020, 'WirtschaftsWoche' surveyed a total of 590 human resources managers from companies and wanted to know from which universities and universities of applied sciences they were particularly keen to recruit graduates. The TU Dresden made it into the top 10 of Germany with five of the nine disciplines surveyed: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Science and Engineering, Industrial Engineering , and 'Wirtschaftsinformatik'.
