First place at the OR/MS Tomorrow Mini Poster Competition 2025 for Niklas Wolfrum
We warmly congratulate our former student Niklas Wolfrum on winning first place at the OR/MS Tomorrow Mini Poster Competition 2025. As part of his diploma thesis, he developed a poster in collaboration with our chair presenting an algorithm to improve machine and personnel planning in railway construction projects. The approach uses a new form of multi-criteria Simulated Annealing, which guides the search through multidimensional solution spaces in an innovative way and builds upon previous insights in multi-criteria metaheuristics. The work was conducted within the OptRail project. The competition challenges participants to present Operations Research and Management Science topics clearly and concisely on a single page, and the poster will also be published in the December issue of OR/MS Tomorrow.
