Visits of the Chair to conferences in Hamburg and Munich
In the last few weeks of the semester break, members of the chair attended two conferences to present and discuss their research with operations research experts.
LOGMS 2024
The first participation took place from 26 to 29 August 2024 at LOGMS 2024 - an international conference focusing on logistics and maritime systems - hosted at the University of Hamburg . Benedikt Zipfel presented results on "Hybrid Flow Shop Scheduling with Workforce Assignment for Additive Manufacturing", which he worked on together with Nadine Schiebold as part of his PhD thesis.
OR 2024
A week later, from 3 to 6 September, followed a visit to OR 2024 in Munich. The OR is the largest conference in Operations Research, Management Science, Data Science and Analytics in the German-speaking countries and is organised annually by the German Operations Research Society (GOR), the Austrian Society for Operations Research (ÖGOR) and the Swiss Society for Operations Research (SVOR/ASRO). Our chair was represented by:
- Alexander Blume presented the results of the MALEA research project on "Interval-based workforce scheduling with qualification asymmetry in food production", which he worked on together with Nadine Schiebold
- Aron Lange presented his research on optimal scheduling of intercity buses entitled "Multi-Objective Vehicle Scheduling for Intercity Bus Operations with Subcontractors Services"
- Maximilian Hubmann presented his student research on "The impact of lot streaming in hybrid flow shop scheduling with setup times", which he had jointly developed with Max Höfling under the supervision of Daniel Zähringer and Prof. Dr. Neufeld
In addition to members of our department, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Tristan Becker with his doctoral student Julia Erdmann from the Chair of Business Administration, esp. in Management Science, and Prof. Dr. Lasch and Martin Schöne from the Chair of Business Administration, esp. in Logistics, for the TU Dresden, as well as our former colleague Prof. Dr. Neufeld from Magdeburg also attended.
Both conferences provided an excellent platform to share ongoing research, discover new applications and practices, discuss trends and network with professionals and leading experts.
