Returning from Shanghai: Research Exchange at Tongji University
Aloxander Blume with colleagues of Prof. Qiang Su
Recently, Alexander Blume, PhD student at our Chair of Business Administration, esp. Industrial Management, returned from a three-month research exchange at Tongji University, one of China’s leading universities. The exchange was made possible through an invitation by Prof. Qiang Su from the Department of Management Science & Engineering, of the School of Economics and Management (SEM).
During the exchange, Alexander Blume worked jointly with Prof. Su on a new research paper in the field of bi-level optimization, with a particular focus on waste co-processing in China’s cement industry. The collaboration combined methodological approaches of Operations Research with pressing industrial and environmental challenges, providing a good starting point for a new scientific publication.
The research stay concluded with a return to Dresden at the end of 2025 enriched by new impressions, ideas, and motivation for ongoing doctoral research. The Chair of Industrial Management would like to explicitly thank Prof. Su for the invitation, as well as Tongji University for hosting and financially supporting the exchange.
Further personal and academic impressions from the research stay can be found in the accompanying interview article published on the TU Dresden website:
