WANDA: Successful completion of Project Phase 3
While the first two phases of the project focused on documenting and analyzing the overall process and necessary activities for inspecting district heating systems, the project team concentrated on comparing existing and new methods for planning inspection tasks in phase 3.
To this end, the Chair of Industrial Management developed a tailored metaheuristic algorithm. This approach efficiently coordinates inspection tasks by maximizing the number of possible inspections, integrating fixed tasks, and minimizing travel times within Dresden. The algorithm ensures that the time windows for fixed tasks are adhered to while incorporating work regulations such as break times, standard working hours, and overtime.
By comparing the new method with existing planning approaches, the project team gained valuable insights and demonstrated the advantages of the innovative solution. This not only enhances the efficiency of inspections but also establishes a foundation for the long-term and sustainable management of the growing district heating network.
The Chair of Industrial Management extends its sincere thanks to SachsenEnergie for the engaging discussions and excellent collaboration throughout the project.
