The Chair of Industrial Management used this year's Dies Academicus for an excursion to Radebeul. A total of 23 students and staff from the chair first visited the printing press production facilities at KBA-SheetfedSolutions AG & Co. KG. After Dr. Markus Rehm (head of assembly work preparation) introduced the company and in particular explained in detail the assembly planning at the company, we were guided through the production facilities. There, the individual components for sheetfed printing systems such as feeder, printing unit and delivery are initially manufactured in flow production before being assembled and adjusted to form large printing presses.

After a short lunch in the canteen we crossed the road to Thyssenkrupp Schulte GmbH. On 170.000m² over 2kt steel, stainless steel and aluminium are stored here. In addition, a wide range of processing options such as sawing or sandblasting are available. The managing director Mr. Rene Semrau gave our group a rough overview of the company structure and explained in particular the problems and challenges in steel trading. Afterwards, the large warehouse was inspected before we went back to Dresden.
