Review

On 27 May, students and staff of the sub-department visited the production facilities of Optipack and Sachsenmilch in Leppersdorf.

Optipack operates an ultra-modern factory in Leppersdorf, in which around 270 employees produce around 1.8 billion PS and PP cups and around 600 million PET preforms a year. Sachsenmilch employs about 1500 employees at its Leppersdorf site. The extensive production range comprises milk, yoghourt, butter and cheese, among other things.

Field trip timetable:

8.30am Departure from the main railway station in Dresden
10am to 10.30am Presentation of Optipack by the factory manager Michael Krämer
10.30am to 12 noon Guided tour through the Optipack factory
12 noon to 1pm Lunch in the factory canteen
1pm to 3pm Guided tour through Sachsenmilch's dairy
3pm to 3.30pm Evaluation of the experiences with Dr Mike Eberle (Head of Production and Technology)
3.30pm Return
