Supervision by the chair

Supervision of the thesis is taking over by a supervisor named by the examiner. The support is provided in individual coordination between supervisor and student.
In general, the student must be prepared for consultation. This means the student should have a conceptual solution which he proposes for discussion regarding problems of the work.

Within a reasonable period after the award of the topic, the student determines an overall concept for his work, which must be confirmed by the supervisor. This approach should include the structure and research questions of the work, additional key notes on the individual chapters in particular regard to objectives, main content, applicable methods and procedures, and expected results of each chapter. Further meetings will be held by agreement between supervisor and student.

Guidelines for business cooperation’s

To ensure a smooth processing of theses, which are made in cooperation with private companies, several points must be considered.

• It is necessary to ensure that the student has access to relevant information about the company. It is important to clarify in each individual case whether the data for reasons of data protection remains within the company or is given to the student in an anonymized form.
• The processing time of work of four months starts with the registration of the theses at the examination office.
• The grading of the work is carried out by two professors of the TU Dresden in accordance with the respective examination regulations.

The above guidelines are only a selection. In each case, a research agreement is completed between the company and the TU Dresden.

Students who plan a thesis in collaboration with a company, therefore should contact the future supervisor of the thesis at the earliest possible.

Delivery

The delivery of the final thesis (Bachelor, Master or Diploma thesis) is carried out to the examination office.
