Vita
Blagoy Blagoev is Professor of Business Management, esp. Organization at Technische Universität Dresden since June 2021. He studied business administration at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Freie Universität Berlin, where he received his doctoral degree as a fellow of the DFG graduate school “Research on Organizational Paths” with a thesis on the path dependency of organizational time regimes (summa cum laude, awarded Freie Universität’s Ernst Reuter Prize for outstanding dissertations).
His research addresses the management of change and innovation in organizations through process and practice-theoretical lenses. A distinguishing feature of Blagoy’s research is the focus on time and temporality in organizations as well as the interplay of organization and society in the context of current technological, ecological, and cultural changes. He draws on qualitative and historical research methods to examine a wide range of organizations such as multinational corporations, knowledge-intensive firms, museums, and coworking spaces. Currently, Blagoy is working on inter-temporal tensions in business sustainability, open organizing and the transition to open science, as well as agile organizational designs. He has published in journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Academy of Management Journal, Organization Studies, Journal of Management Studies, Organization and Scandinavian Journal of Management.
Prior to joining TUD, Blagoy held a Lecturer position at Leuphana University Lüneburg and worked as a postdoctoral research associate at Freie Universität Berlin and a research associate at Europa Universität Viadrina. Furthermore, Blagoy was a visiting scholar and lecturer at the Antwerp Management School (Belgium), Copenhagen Business School (Denmark), Radboud University in Nijmegen (The Netherlands), and the University of Graz (Austria). He has been a member of the DFG research network "Temporary Organizing”, an associate member of the DFG research network "Grand Challenges & New Forms of Organizing”, and a founding member of the international research network “Routine.Research.Community.”
