The understanding of “Organizational Purpose” has changed in recent years. While the focus used to be on increasing the value of shareholders' capital, the (re)definition of the company's purpose goes beyond profit maximization and also includes social and ecological concerns, resulting in a broader stakeholder orientation. The aim of the bachelor seminar is to give the participants an overview of the current discussion on the topic of purpose. The seminar addresses what is meant by purpose in an organizational context and how the term can be distinguished from similar concepts such as vision or mission. In addition, based on current research, it will be discussed which drivers lead companies to (re)define their purpose. Moreover, the possible effects an defined organizational purpose can have for employees and for the success of the company are discussed. In addition, the seminar participants deepen their knowledge of writing and presenting scientific papers. |
