Habilitation Prize for Prof. Dr. Kamila Cygan-Rehm
Prof. Dr. Kamila Cygan-Rehm (Chair of Quantitative Methods, esp. Econometrics) was awarded this year's Habilitation Prize of the University Association of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). The award ceremony took place as part of the FAU Awards on October 22 in Erlangen.
In her cumulative habilitation thesis, Kamila Cygan-Rehm devoted herself to the econometric evaluation of various political interventions - from the effects of parental allowance and financial incentives for early prenatal care to the extension of compulsory schooling and reforms of citizenship law and mini-jobs. The short and long-term, intended and unintended effects of political decisions on the affected individuals and companies were analyzed in eight scientific contributions.
As part of the award ceremony, Kamila Cygan-Rehm gave a brief insight into her research in a science slam. She drew attention to the insufficient availability of data for microeconometric impact research in Germany. Watch the video of the science slam here.
Kamila Cygan-Rehm's habilitation was supervised by Prof. Regina T. Riphahn, Ph.D., who has been working for years to improve access to research data for empirical economic and social research. More on this topic in the current editorial in Wirtschaftsdienst.
