Market power, sabotage and sanctions on the international gas market: New publication in Energy Economics
The paper "Gas Pipeline Business: Market Power, Sabotage, and Sanctions" written by Marcel Thum (Chair of Economics, esp. Public Economics) and Kai Konrad and forthcoming in "Energy Economics" is now online: https://lnkd.in/dMHVmJyC.
The authors examine the strategic interplay between Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and pipeline transportation in the international gas market. In their model, a gas-producing country is linked to two consumer nations by fixed-capacity pipelines. Marcel Thum and Kai Konrad not only analyze pricing and trade volumes, but also the effects of shocks such as pipeline destruction and export embargoes.
