Appointment of Prof. Marcel Thum to the HWWI Scientific Advisory Board

Prof. Dr. Marcel Thum (Chair of Economics, esp. Public Economics) was appointed by the shareholders’ meeting of the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI), upon the recommendation of the executive board, to serve on the HWWI’s Scientific Advisory Board for a term of three years. As a member of the Scientific Advisory Board, Prof. Thum also serves on the Institute’s Advisory Board. Prof. Katrin Rhedanz (University of Kiel) and Prof. Tobias Thomas (University of Graz) were also appointed as members of the Advisory Board.

The Scientific Advisory Board is responsible for supporting the HWWI’s research and further development. Among other things, the Advisory Board advises the Executive Board and supports the Institute on financing matters. Both the Scientific Advisory Board and the Advisory Board are tasked with strengthening the Institute’s ties to academia, business, politics, and society.
