Bundesbank Lecture Geoeconomics by Matteo Maggiori: Video online
We are very delighted that we had Matteo Maggiori from Stanford University as speaker at this year's Bundesbank Lecture. In his lecture, he presented a new framework for geoeconomics that combines economic modelling with an artificial intelligence approach to analyze large-scale text data.
The video recording of the lecture is now online and available on the faculty's YouTube channel: https://lnkd.in/d3YbXEj6
The key takeaways of the Bundesbank Lecture are:
- Power through interdependence: Economic ties in trade, finance, and technology have become tools of geopolitical influence.
- Globalization’s paradox: The same networks that generate efficiency also create strategic vulnerabilities, fueling a cycle of fragmentation.
- Seeing power in real time: Advances in data and AI now make it possible to observe geoeconomic pressure as it happens, showing which firms, sectors, and countries are most exposed to coercion and control.
We would like to thank the Deutsche Bundesbank and Prof. Dr. Stefan Eichler and his team for making this event possible and, of course, Matteo Maggiori for his fascinating talk.
