The new TUD supplement in the Sächsische Zeitung: The university is a regional center for specialists and transfer
Saxony needs experts and innovative founders. As a research-focused university, TU Dresden (TUD) provides optimal conditions for them to blossom. TUD is home to numerous professors who have received multiple awards for their entrepreneurship, and it has the most patent applications of any German university. Facilities such as the "dresden|exists" start-up service or the Career Service offer a wide range of opportunities to establish early bonds between students and companies, as well as to promote and support their career path to self-employment. From now on, the new Center of Excellence for Innovation, Transfer and Entrepreneurship "TUD|excite" bundles TUD's activities and services pertaining to the transfer of knowledge and technology, patents and spin-offs.
In the latest TUD supplement in the Sächsische Zeitung, Prof. Andreas Pinkwart, Director of TUD|excite as well as Mandy Schipke, entrepreneur and TUD alumna, tell us why the university is so important as a meeting place and research hub, and why Saxon founders have particularly promising perspectives right now.
The issue also features numerous entrepreneurs who have set up their own companies out of the university, be it recently or decades ago, often doing business around the world. They describe the essential tools TU Dresden has equipped them with. In addition, individuals are featured who, instead of becoming self-employed, have successfully found their way into large, medium-sized and small companies in the region having, acquired the necessary expertise during their studies.
They all illustrate that TU Dresden is tremendously important for the region and beyond when it comes to training highly skilled specialists and facilitating business start-ups.
