A Double Dose of Doctoral Success: Two Successful Defenses at the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Industrial Management
Last week, the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Industrial Management had twice the reason to celebrate: on two consecutive days, our former colleagues Felix Tamke and Franz Ehm successfully defended their doctoral dissertations.
Felix Tamke kicked things off on June 30, 2026, with the successful defense of his dissertation "Models and Algorithms for Vehicle Routing Problems". In his presentation, he introduced innovative approaches to vehicle routing problems that incorporate drones, alongside novel exact solution methods for tackling complex logistics problems.
Just one day later, on July 1, 2026, Franz Ehm followed with the defense of his dissertation on “Integrated Sequence Planning and Machine Scheduling for Disassembly”. His research focused on developing new methods for integrated sequence and machine planning to enable efficient disassembly in industrial settings.
Following the two successful defenses, Professor Buscher traditionally presented the individually designed doctoral caps. Created with great attention to detail and creativity, each cap reflected not only the candidate's research interests but also their personal interests. For example, the first cap ingeniously combined the topic of drone-based vehicle routing with a passion for water polo. The second cap playfully linked disassembly planning with his new research position at the university hospital, as well as his enthusiasm for cycling and rock climbing.
We extend our warmest congratulations to both of them on this outstanding and well-deserved achievement and wish them all the best and every success in their future professional and personal endeavors.
