Dresden Science Night 2026 - Hands-On Combinatorial Optimization
Once again this year, the Chair of Business Administration, with a focus on Industrial Management, participated with a booth in the Gerhart-Potthoff Building at Dresden Science Night on June 26, 2026.
The interactive stations on combinatorial optimization problems attracted a great deal of interest. Using the games Ubongo and Katamino, visitors were able to solve various packing problems in a playful way. Another station invited participants to find the shortest possible round trip through up to 30 German cities, thereby illustrating the Traveling Salesman Problem. In addition, interested visitors could use colored Lego Duplo bricks to assign jobs to machines as efficiently as possible, gaining insight into machine scheduling. Further information is available at the following link: Streamlit app.
At the booth, the Chair’s team received active support from Student Assistants Maria Götting and Anthony Eckl. Many thanks for your hard work!
