New WPA project during the summer term 2024: Financial Robotics meets Ostsächsische Sparkasse

In the WPA project Financial Robotics meets Ostsächsische Sparkasse, students have the opportunity to deal with the programming and design of humanoid service robots in an application-orientated way. In cooperation with Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden, students will work in small teams and program a specific banking application on the humanoid service robot Pepper. They will develop specific solutions for current challenges in the bank branch including unlocking online banking access, portfolio recommendations, and in-branch entertainment services.

The project will start with a kick-off event at the Dresden Strießen branch of Ostsächsische Sparkasse on the May 3, 2024. During the kick-off event, the tutor will introduce students to the technical basics and programming of Pepper, Managers from Ostsächsische Sparkasse will familiarize them with the recent challenges in banking. The group work is designed to promote technical and, in particular, social skills such as teamwork and project management. The final part of the module consists of a presentation of the developed solutions to an expert audience, which will also include managers from TU Dresden and Ostsächsische Sparkasse.

This WPA project targets at students who have a strong interest in the interface between technological innovation and practical application in the financial sector. Students have the opportunity to gain practical experience in a future-oriented field and at the same time solve real problems of a financial service provider. The most successful solutions are then tested at Ostsächsische Sparkasse over several months to assess their effectiveness and practical suitability.
