Student develops interactive Christmas market map for Dresden

As part of the Open Data measure within the Smart City Initiative of the state capital Dresden, a student from the Chair of Business Information Systems, esp. Information Systems in Industry and Trade at TU Dresden has created an interactive Christmas market map for Dresden based on open data. This animated Christmas web application (www.weihnachtsmarktkarte-dresden.de) lists all of the city's Christmas markets, including their opening times, weather data and extensive information such as directions and nearby toilets. The application is currently still in a beta version, but is being continuously developed.

The creation of the Christmas market web application was kindly supported by the Open Data Informationsstelle Berlin and by funding from the Model Project Smart Cities (MPSC), financed by the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) and the Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW).
